This whole issue was classic, especially when the Question screams out, "Black Adam, Shazam!, Isis", seeing if he was going to get some superpowered juice! (and someone remind me why Isis wants to go to China???)
I looooved the art this week! It's so great to see Drew Johnson back at DC. :)
As for China, early on in 52 Black Adam got into a tussle with some heroes because he was trying to help start a war. The Chinese have a state-controlled Justice League sort of thing called the Secret Six, so Isis et. al. may be going to confront them.
My cricketron used to go berserk all the time too until I updated the firmware.
ReplyDeleteThose first few pages of 52 this week were solid gold fun.
ReplyDeleteThe scenes on the island were definitely a hoot. The Criketron made me think of Beetle. *sniff*

JLA has to be one of my least fav Morrison works.
ReplyDeleteGeez. I don't know how I missed that. The whole "Island of Mad Doctors" is VINTAGE Morrison.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't miss him, because I've been re-reading The Invisibles
The Chinese heroes are actually called The Great Ten. I'm looking forward to the throwdown (if that's what we're in for).
ReplyDelete" The Chinese heroes are actually called The Great Ten."
ReplyDeleteOooh, I'm sorry! I got my number teams mixed up. Thanks so much, rob s.!
I miss Morrison's JLA, Where else could you hear Granny Goodness talk in Smiths lyrics?
ReplyDelete"Unruly boys who will not grow up will be taken in hand....."
He also had Kyle refer to Captain Marvel as "the man with the child in his eyes".
"The fish and fowl team".
"He's wrestling an ANGEL!"
How could you not love the Morrison JLA run?
While it was a fun read, I was primarily concerned that they were on "Oolong Island", traditional home of Wonder Woman's Egg Fu.
ReplyDeleteAren't there some characters who should just get put out of their misery?
I just love that a giant egg is poaching mad scientists.
ReplyDelete"Poaching?" That's brilliant!
