First: Ice! Yay!

Second, Kyle in space. This should be interesting because of the Parallax storyline. Being stationed on Oa means the paranoia focused on Hal before will either be lessened enough to let someone who's been Parallax be on Oa, or its just going to be an all-around worse situation for Kyle since he has to work in the heart of the Corps.

Third, check out the three covers. Same theme for all of them, not sure what that's getting at. Also, note the middle right (well, your left as you view the cover) of GLC and the Secret Files. Ice is important enough to be in the Corps picture. Katma's on the Secret Files, so we should get at least a Katma flashback part if not a little story and profile for her. (No, I don't see it as a sign of imminent resurrection. That's the Silver Age Corps on that cover. Still, if the writers like her enough they might bring her back later.)

Outside of that, Kyle's going to a gender swapped world and the Red Son world with Donna and Jason. Tangent characters are in Justice League of America, Wonder Woman's in The Atom, Alan Scott adn Jade are in JSA: Classified, Blue Beetle's going to space, Drew Johnson's on Supergirl, McKeever's starting his Birds of Prey run, and Cyclone is in an enviable position.

  1. Are the women in the same position on each cover? I was quickly shifting through tabs when I noticed that.

  2. Kyle's gonna die. He's gonna turn totally irredeemably evil and the other Green Lanterns are going to have to kill him. He's doomed.

  3. OMG!!! A cover without a black background!

I was so getting tired of those JSA covers.

  4. anonymous said...

    He's doomed.

Just so long as he doesn't go back to the crab mask. Now that's doom.

  5. the theme of all of them is the cover to the first GL issue of Sinestro Corps War.

except a mirror image of it is the corps coming to attack the Sinestro Corps

  6. Is that Sodam Yat to the right of Kyle below Arisia?

  7. Patrick -- I think so, though the guy below Kyle's left leg could fit the description too.

    I think that's Vath, though

  8. Alex Ross' Cyclone looks almost exactly like Alex Ross' Red Tornado 3 (the one in KC who is robo-Red's daughter)...

  9. With Ross basically co-writing JSA, there's an outbreak of Kingdom Come characters on the team. Cyclone looks like KC's Red Tornado, Wildcat is a were-panther, Starman has the starry costume and is from the LSH, Jakeem Thunder has shaved his head and has lightning coming out of his eyes...

  10. Gosh, I just squealed with delight when I read the solicit with Ice. FINALLY! It looks as though December is going to be just lovely.

As for the covers, at least the Green Lantern one, seems to be a mirror image of the one with Sinestro and the Sinestro Corps behind him...which is interesting. They do seem to be consistant in their theme however, don't they?

And look...MOGO! I can now heave a huge sigh of reief. It will be nice to have Kyle back with Guy however.

  11. Hmmm... on the GLC cover, is it just me, or does it look like Arisia has lost her left hand? And now she has some sort of hook device over it?

  12. Starman has the starry costume and is from the LSH,

Actually that bit fits in with the James Robinson Starman ending. Its possible he went with that because of KC of course...

  13. I wonder what an Alpha Lantern is?

  14. Anony- A Red Lantern, perhaps? This could be the Manhunters all over again.

  15. Since when would Jakeem like a shaved head? Didn't the first thing he wished for about his little fight was over was his hair back?

Am I the only one who liked Kyle's old costume (minus the dog collar of course) I'm not loving the current costume as much- though that might be that Countdown art doesn't seem as good as GL/GLC art.

  16. Hey, there's a WOMAN WHO REFRIGERATES on that cover!

  17. Ice is on the cover because it will sell issues to people who aren't hardcore GLC fans, duh.

  18. I agree with Anonymous... Green Lanterns are gonna get Kyle.
