Asian/Asian-American Characters in Comics

Oh, and one last thing -- While I've been doing my little amateur experiment, Jenn at Reappropriate has been compiling a database called The Outsiders: Asian/Asian-American Characters in Comics. Check it out!

(She has pictures!)

  1. I forgot about a few characters of Asian descent, and I don't think they've been mentioned anywhere. They were in DC's mid-'80s masterpiece 'Atari Force', and the characters included:

Dart (Erin Bia O'Rourke-Singh) who was a super-cool butt-kicking mercenary, and a wonderfully likeable character

    Mohandas Singh, her dad

    Li-San O'Rourke, her mom

  2. Oh my stars & garters.

I cannot believe I forgot about Dart. She's stupendous awesome, regardless of her existence outside the DC Universe proper. One of my ALL-TIME faves.

But I doubt her parents would've make Ragnell's list: Mom Li-San is a security expert and martial artist (and incidentally, has an Irish accent worthy of a Claremont character), and Dad Mohandas is a computer expert (and incidentally--and inaccurately--has the forehead dot, or pudtha, typically reserved for Hindu women).
