I admire the overall attitude, but...

Y'know, Valkyrie, its nice to inspire your teammates but there's a fine line between leadership and dickery and you're getting pretty close with the puny males comment.

(I need to get my hands on some Defenders back issues.)

  1. Still, you have to admire someone who can use the phrase "puny males" with the Hulk standing right there.

BTW, there are a couple of Defenders Essentials out that might be easier to get your hands on than back issues.

  2. Maybe she was talking specifically to Nighthawk and Dr. Strange? No one else on the team as far as I can recall fits with both the "puny" and "male" descriptors...

  3. I got Essential Defenders #1 and it's pretty fab. What I love is that Valkyrie strikes me as totally out of her league in some of these early tales. With the rest of team consisting of Doc Strange, Hulk, Sub-Mariner, and the Silver Surfer, she just stands out as the obviously weakest member of the team. Yet there she is, kicking ass and taking names. Time and time again the message is that physical power is less important than sheer badass fighting spirit. And Valkyrie has the latter to spare.

She's kinda like the Batman to the Defender's JLA.

  4. Val, the Hulk is RIGHT THERE! You really don't want to hurt his feelings. Or make him mad. You wouldn't like him when he's mad.

I do hope that she didn't stab her nice horse with the giant spear by the way.

  5. The Defenders are awesome. Although my favorite was always Hellcat, who, if you're going to talk puny, she's pretty much it.

  6. Hey! She's wearing one of those fancy "undergarments of the gods" of which you spoke!

  7. "Hulk am not puny! Hulk am strongest their is! Blonde girl am puny! RRAAAAHHH!"

Seriously, he'll eat her horse if it didn't keep flying away.

  8. I may be thinking later in the run, but as I recall all the Defenders worked pretty hard at being annoying. So her attitude worked just fine for me.
