His name is Damien?

  1. Whose name is Damien? Do you mean that little kid that was killed in Stamford in Civil War? Oooh, cue the spooky music.

  2. I guess "Lucifer" was taken.

  3. Is he the son that Bruce supposedly had with Talia? Talia, whose father is Ra's al Ghul...making the kid 'grandson of the Demon'...kind of a fitting name, in that case.

Of course, I don't really follow Batman, so you could be talking about some other son of Batman...if so, never mind...

  4. Dear Grant: It wasn't funny when Erik Larsen did it. It wasn't funny when Mark Millar did it. And boy, it's still not funny when you do it.

The naming or something else? I can't think of anything these three all have in common. Morrison and Millar used to be writing-buddies, Larsen and Millar have done Spidey, and Larsen and Morrison have done Doom Patrol... but nothing for all three.

  6. Yeah, I'm in the dark on that comment, too...

  7. He's referring to them picking the name Damien, for its evil connotations.

Morrision obviously in the latest Batman, Millar in Civil War 4 and Larsen in Savage Dragon.

    Though I had to google.

  8. Well, I dunno what context Larson or Millar used, but in Talia's case it makes perfect sense. Her father and sister were both "the Demon's Head." It is possible, since they're both dead, that she now takes the title. Either way, she likely expected him to eventually take on the mantle - or at least be a prominent assest to her (occasionally immortal) father. (Especially since his birth would have predated Batman: Death and the Maidens and her original breaking of ties with the League of Assasins.)

Which isn't to say the whole thing isn't a little to on-the-nose.

  9. There is also a saint Damien and maybe in this context more interesting a arab saint Damian who did become saint together with his brother.
Both Damien and Damian are medical saints but many saints are.

  10. "His name is Damien?"

"Evil Lad" was also already taken.

  11. Ooooh...THAT Damian! Silly me, you mean the charming little tyke who is trying to kill Robin? I guess Alfred needs to up the prozac in the kid's orange juice.

  12. I thought it was proof that Talia had something of a sense of humor...
