Just finished Birds of Prey #99

The lesbian subtext is strong in this one.

  1. Yes yes yes, but WHAT ABOUT THE INKING? :) :) :)

Ordway's cover's a bit strange, all three women are looking in a different direction. I think Dinah is looking at the camera-person's crotch...

  2. Wow. Apparently I'm Captain Oblivious, I completely missed it. I'll re-read it and see what happens. Hopefully, a pillowfight somewhere on page 6

In all seriousness, I'm very happy it didn't end with a screaming finger-pointing falling out.

  3. Lesbian subtext? In a modern DC superhero comic? I'm Shocked, Ragnell, I am SHOCKED!

Is it wrong of me to think you are saying this with a Yoda voice?

  5. Eh. I didn't really see it. Just standard "best girl friend" type stuff.

  6. As opposed to the other issues where it's absent?

  7. Yeah, I'm not seeing it either. And I don't require much prodding to imagine lesbian subtext. :)

I saw the "Simone missing being able to write Dinah" context pretty clearly though.

  8. I'm not sure that Simone isn't going to be writing Dinah. I don't think this is a case of editorial forcing her out of the book so she can be in Justice League of America. The part where she left to raise Sin, combined with the Talia thing from a few issues ago, tells me that Dinah may be leaving the team again, but she's not leaving the cast, and that she'll be back fishing with nets sooner then later.
