Because of the current raging controversy I did something unusual and checked out the figures section of the DC solicits. I found something I have to buy. I want them to make more like this.
Come on, people. Look at the glasses in her right hand. The left hand has just pulled off the white jumpsuit to reveal the true Wonder Woman underneath.
What is this? A depiction of Wonder Woman doing something that actually makes sense? I'm surprised they didn't depict her bending over and painting her toenails or something.
Seriously, this is the way that it is supposed to be. Nicely done.
Looks like this is the first in a new line of Terry Dodson designed busts:
The popular WOMEN OF THE DC UNIVERSE line of cold-cast porcelain busts kicks off a new year with a new series of busts designed by illustrator Terry Dodson! Wonder Woman is first in the line, followed by seven more busts in 2008: Starfire, Cheetah, Batwoman, Silver Banshee, Wonder Girl, Catwoman and Huntress!
And when I suggested that DC should put out a nice statue of one of their female characters to counter Marvel, I was told by comments that they'd nevar evar do that >.>;;;
:D
I dun think this is in response to the MJ statue, but yay! I <3 it :)
Hey, Ami - they listened to you! They REALLY listened to you! :D
That IS a cool statue, Ragnell - and yes, it's Diana doing the "Clark-Changing-Into-Superman" pose. It's sexy, but it's empowering rather than degrading,
Best, Tim Liebe Going to order that statue for Tammy now....
It's much better than the first Women of the DCU Wonder Woman they did. She could barely keep her top on. This one is much more realistic and less gratuitous.
Mike -- If you're here for the Asshole of the Month competition, Meeley's won it 24 times running and he hasn't even commented on any of my blogs for the past few months. I'm sorry, man, your pitiful statue jokes just can't compete.
I hope that isn't some MAN'S cloth she's holding.
ReplyDeleteI'm more interested in the Donna Troy as Wonder Woman action figure available in December. I'll play with it and pretend that it's Diana Prince.
ReplyDeleteThat statue is beautiful. I hope they put out more like that. I'd definitely buy them.
ReplyDeleteI really like it - it's nicely done.
ReplyDeleteI'm also tempted by the Peej figure that was solicited yesterday - that looks pretty cool to me
mike: She have obviusly just ripped Steve Trevors shirt off...
ReplyDeleteYeah now that's more like it. Certainly a damn site better than the cow eyed WW statue with the painted on costume they were soliciting earlier.

ReplyDeleteI don't care for those busts. It always looks like someone is popping up out of a sewer pipe from Mario Land.
ReplyDeleteYes! More women undressing, please!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, it is a nice statue.

ReplyDeleteWhich I'm sure she did because it was dirty...I bet immediately after the moment captured with this statue she head off to the washing machine.
Futher sexism in female comic book figurines...DISCOVERED.

ReplyDeleteI like that she's changing clothes without the dippy spin.
ReplyDeleteIs that the Israeli flag?
