Another Necessary Point Omitted

An article on Leia's metal bikini from Return of the Jedi.
"I saw the movie when I was seven and I was absolutely thrilled by Leia -- what a wonderful character," says Amira Sa'id, a dancer who has used a Leia bikini in her performances. "Jabba put her into the outfit to humiliate her, but Leia was such a strong character, her will made the costume empowering."
I wouldn't say it was sheer force of will so much as her actually using the chain attached to the metal outfit to strangle the amorphous bastard who put her in the ridiculous thing to death.

  2. "Choking Jabba" sounds like a euphemism.

  3. Actually, it reminds me of all that's been said about Wonder Woman: it's not that she gets chained up, it's that she breaks free and beats her oppressor. Indeed, one could argue the whole thing was a subterfuge on her part, to keep her close to Jabba while he presumed she was powerless to do anything. One more example of how underestimating women can lead to one's downfall.

Especially if you let her have a ten-foot chain at all times. :-)

  4. - though one wonders how things might have gone differently if Luke was more to Jabba's tastes...

  5. Actually, I think this teaches the very important lesson that collars and leashes only work on willing submissives and that it doesn't matter how hawt she looks in the silly outfit- any captive with military training should be bound hand and foot.

If that's not in the list of "If I Become An Evil Overlord..." it should be. :)

  6. But really, if an Evil Overlord has to die, (and they always have to die) who wouldn't prefer to have an attractive woman strangle them to death? Much better than having the brave peasant lad whose father you killed skewer your gut with six inches of steal.

  7. That's the point of the Evil Overlord list, though. You don't have to die, so long as you avoid certain mistakes.

  8. I do like the cartoon on the first page of that "leiasmetalbikini" website: Jabba dead in the background (complete with X's for eyes), and Leia with a "Yep, I did that" expression on her face...
