Guess What's Coming Out Today
Ahhh. The Flash #1. For a brief shining moment, all is right with the comic book world. It's been so long (January, February it ended?). Will it be the same?
Probably not, but that doesn't mean it won't be fun. I have a confession to make. I watched that TV series. Over and over again on the SciFi channel. I loved it. I am a very indiscriminant Flash fan (Unlike Wonder Woman where I'm picky as hell). I mena, this is the franchise that got me into DC. It would take something major for me not to like this. So I feel safe looking forward to this.
Also, don't forget to grab Manhunter and the She-Hulk collection.

I'm kinda excited, too, and I don't $#^# with single issues, anymore.
ReplyDeleteThis I plan to get two copies of, believe it or not.
Despite the apparent unwelcome changes to the physics of the Flash, I'm still pretty interested in what this series may have to offer.
That's due, in no small part, to my monumental appreciation for Draxhall Jump illustrations (which seem to be handling the art chores).
I enjoyed the TV series, too, so I'm looking forward to the comic.
ReplyDeleteThe Flash show rocked, especially when the Trickster was on! I thought the series was at least as good as Wonder Woman if not Batman.
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention that I, too, was very fond of the television series. They actually made it cool (for it's time, anyway).
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid to see how well it does or doesn't hold up, now, but MAN it was tight backindaday!
I too enjoyed The Flash TV show at the time of its original run. In terms of style it was clearly Tim Burton's Batman crossed with Warren Beatty's Dick Tracy, but they made it work. The music by Shirley Walker (also of Batman: TAS) also helped.
ReplyDeleteIt still has, for me, one of the most effective credit sequences in TV. Every time I see & hear it I remember why I like superheroes.
Are we including those absolutely unreadable Joey Cavalieri issues in the "right-with-the-world" category?
ReplyDeleteBecause we shouldn't be.
So... I don't get my comics till Friday...
ReplyDeleteIs it worth picking up?
re steven's: "Is it worth picking up?"
ReplyDeleteWell, the cover's one of the best I've ever seen, but that's all over the web.
The story smells a bit formulaic, so far, though.
This is a bit hard-nosed, but I'd say that in *this case* if you have to ask, you probably should leave it on the shelves.
I'm glad I got it, but that's based purely on my love of the character and the creator(s)... not the application, so much.
I just can't believe Donna Troy is the new Flash.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Speed Force was just a fast fear monster. Mind-blowing, man.
ReplyDeleteTwo joke comments and they happen to be able my other two favorite franchises.
ReplyDelete*Pbblt!* to both of you.
Steven -- I liked it, but the art's.. bleh.. Writing drew me in, though.
