Dark is Rising Movie News (Its not looking good.)

"...dedicated to a Godly transformation and revolution TO and THROUGH the Film and Television industry. TO it, by serving, living humbly with integrity in what is often a world driven by selfish ambition, power and money – transforming lives from within, and THROUGH it, by creating relevant and evocative content which promotes Godly principles of Truth married with Love."

(Yeah, that's going to work well with all the pagan imagery.)

"...screenwriter John Hodge told me they dropped all the Arthurian stuff from the film."

(Yeah, there goes the rest of the book.)

  1. "dropped all the Arthurian stuff"

One of the characters is FREAKIN' MERLIN! The Arthurian stuff is a good 90% of the damn book!

    *bangs head on desk*

    STUPID STUPID STUPID!

  2. How can you drop the Arthurian "stuff"? What is the point then? Well, one show that I obviously won't be watching.

    Bleh.

  3. Sad. Great cast, excellent screenwriter (Hodge wrote Trainspotting, which is not only a great script but, more to the point, a great adaptation) -- it sounds to me like they picked a flake director out of a hat and it's all been downhill from there.

  4. Wait...what? How can you drop the Arthurian imagery? That's the whole point of the series. I'm so confused...

  5. Okay, I haven't read the book (it's on the list of Things I Must Read Someday)... but from what I know, isn't cutting out the Arthurian elements a bit like cutting out all of the magic from Harry Potter?

  6. This reminds me of the complaints about Children of Men. The director was not interested in the book's message-a Christian author's social commentary. He openly said he was not interested in the religious stuff, so he chucked it in favor of commentary he wanted to make. Ultimately, that is the director's right. Doesn't make it any easier for a book's fans to handle the betrayal, though.

  7. okay, i need the director's address so i can send him hate mail for the rest of his life if he f***'s up this movie, why must they ruin my childhood books? i feel sorry for my children when they are old enough to understand these movies and think that that's how the story really went. NNNNOOOO!!!
