They are somewhere beyond "victory by any means necessary" and into "removal of anything that could even hypothetically be considered a threat" territory. Crazy / paranoid?

That said, I've heard the official story of why the Founders are the way they are -- they used to be benevolent to the Solids, but the Solids then turned against the Founders and tried to kill them all -- and it sounds suspiciously like a story the Founders made up to justify their behavior, since I haven't seen all that many simple ways to kill a Founder.

As to the Andorians, I don't know. But in summary, please post more often.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16538843.post-73976820377359123992013-06-24T12:53:15.852-04:002013-06-24T12:53:15.852-04:00Awesome, a new post! You have a point that most of the ongoing empires are specific vices, but the Dominion is the idea of cooperation without sincerity, willing to use force when negotiation has failed. To use a TNG episode as an example rather than a DS9 one, where Picard meant it when he told an alien prime minister that the Federation would, if requested, leave their planet and never return, the Dominion's smile would drop and the Vorta would start calling in the Jem'Hadar to take over.

That's what makes them so dangerous-they have enough of the Federation's virtues (not all of them) to pose a threat in head to head battles, and have no moral qualms that would stop other empires. Even the Cardassians and Romulans have certain lines they won't cross, even if one of the reasons for that is a cold-blooded calculation that the possible consequences outweigh the potential benefits.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
